Sometimes shooting in Halo CE can feel a bit inconsistent however, SPV3 does not have this issue. The sandbox in this mod is also incredible. I even found a few logs placed down by Captain Keyes which add another layer to the story and provide some extra lore that most Halo fans wouldn’t know. The first level took me about 45 minutes to complete, because of the sheer amount of things to do and content to explore. The second half however, made my jaw drop open, as the level just kept getting bigger and bigger, with more places to explore and battles to fight.

The first half of the level is a lot like the original, just with entirely new weapons and enemy models, which makes it feel very fresh and fun to play, even in 2021. I had no idea what I was in for when I was playing through Pillar of Autumn this morning. The first campaign called “Installation 04” is an entire overhaul of the original Halo CE campaign, and overhaul is an understatement. SPV3 contains two campaigns that are packed to the brim with content. As a result, I believe every Halo fan should check this mod out. This mod is an entire game in of itself and it includes a shocking amount of content. The HUD is very similar to the one found in Halo Reach, and armour abilities make a return as well. SPV3 also includes features from some other Halo games: I was very surprised to find several battlerifles on the Pillar Of Autumn, and to see Brutes fighting with marines. This mod does an incredible job of creating and entirely new and fresh experience whilst keeping true to Halo’s core gameplay. This mod features an insane overhaul to the graphics, sandbox, enemies, and campaign of Halo Combat Evolved. You may have seen quite a buzz about this mod all over YouTube, and today I had the privilege of playing it for the first time.

However one Halo game that already has great modding support is Halo: Custom edition, and in this article we look at one of the most popular mods in all of the community at the moment, SPV3. Mods will only continue to grow in quantity and quality as 343 gives the community powerful official tools with which to create then, and as the Halo modding community grows.
